Durban born, Christopher Tugwell received private art tutoring as a child, but was never actually formally trained in fine art. Aged 20, he moved to Johannesburg to pursue his dream of becoming a full time painter. He later settled in Pretoria, opening the Chris Tugwell Art Gallery and establishing himself as a prominent South Artist. An exceptional landscape artist, Tugwell's paintings are widely loved with a lovely sense of freedom expressiveness encapsulating the many wonderful landscapes of his home country.
