Dino Paravano is an internationally recognised South African artist whose career has been shaped by a lifelong fascination with nature, wildlife and the landscapes of Southern Africa.

Born in Rome, Paravano immigrated to South Africa with his family in 1947. Encouraged initially by his father, an amateur artist, he developed largely through independent study, while also attending the Johannesburg College of Art and undertaking study tours through Europe and the Americas.

Working principally in oil and pastel, Paravano became especially admired for his accomplished wildlife paintings. His approach combines careful observation with a painterly sensitivity to light, atmosphere, colour and texture. Rather than creating purely photographic representations, he subtly interprets and arranges his subjects, giving his paintings both realism and a distinctive sense of mood. His landscapes, coastal scenes and wildlife studies demonstrate the same assured draughtsmanship and quiet appreciation of the natural world.

Paravano’s pedigree extends well beyond South Africa. He has participated in hundreds of exhibitions, including numerous museum shows, and his work is represented in museum, corporate and private collections internationally. In 1993, the prestigious Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum recognised him as a Master Wildlife Artist.

His work also maintains an established presence on the South African secondary art market, reflecting his enduring appeal to collectors.
